Hearthline — User Experience
Unique interaction paradigm
Care Radar — a polar four-hour clock. Wedges are intervals. Opacity is confidence. Colour is blast radius. This is not a Kanban and not a US “care feed.”
If we do not know, the wedge is pale. That honesty is the anti-scam UI: the app does not invent a complete medical brain.
Primary journeys
1. Island lead (Marcia, Portmore) — first value
1. Sister in Atlanta sends the PWA link in WhatsApp (or Marcia types it from a pharmacy card). 2. Screen 1: “We never ask for a card. We never take remittance. Photograph the paper.” 3. Camera. Crop. Optional “cover the address.” 4. Draft radar. Marcia fixes “warfarin evening” because the handwriting was ugly. 5. Share → WhatsApp. The image is the radar + “View only. Hearthline will not ask you for Lynk.”
Empty: a still camera and one sentence, not a dashboard of zeros. Loading: “Reading the paper on this phone…” Error: “Could not read this page. Type the next tablet, or try a flatter photo.” Never a fake success.
2. Diaspora viewer (Keisha, Bronx)
1. Opens share link. No Apple Pay sheet. No “subscribe to see medications.” 2. Sees the same radar. Can text Marcia in WhatsApp (deep link), not a new inbox. 3. If she wants to send money: copy says use Western Union / bank / Lynk to Marcia’s name you already know.
3. Harbor (stable week)
Radar collapses to a green ring and “Nothing new since Tuesday.” Overseas pings are rate-limited by the household.
Interaction patterns
- Confirm > compose. Taps are yes/no/unsure, not forms.
- One owner at a time for a high-blast-radius wedge (no “everyone responsible”).
- Voice confirm for Delroy: “Evening tablet. Say yes.”
- Screenshot is a first-class artifact. Layout must survive compression in WhatsApp.
Wireframe concepts (studio)
1. Yard screen: big shutter, 876 number, three trust sentences. 2. Radar: polar clock, 4h, legend for confidence. 3. Share card: PNG with watermark and revoke hint. 4. Receipt drawer: “Photo added. Link created. Link revoked.”
Accessibility
- WCAG 2.2 AA as a floor.
- Patois-tolerant speech later; v1 copy in clear Jamaican Standard English (“tablet,” not “med adherence event”).
- Works in blazing sun (high contrast, not grey-on-grey).
- One-thumb use on a moving coaster bus.
Cross-device
Phone is the design centre. Desktop is for the UK auntie with a laptop. Tablet is a bonus. Same PWA. No separate “pro” app that looks like a second company (scam pattern).
